For: Parathyro | 2022
The first Covid-19 lockdown, in Cyprus, happened in March 2022.
The Self–Isolation Calendar, began as an idea from "Parathyro", the cultural insert of everyday newspaper POLITIS. It consists of 64 days where people from Cyprus coming from different fields (such as arts), shared a day in their life on how this self–isolation experience was for them.
The idea for this book design came from my personal experience during the first total lockdown (in Cyprus), during the pandemic. Two months isolated in a student's studio. A small room where anyone could feel trapped.
In Cyprus, each citizen had the option to send one message to go outside. Once per day.
Each time one could go outside, it felt like freedom, a new reality; The feeling I tried capturing when a page of the book unfolds to a bigger one.
By returning home, you had to "fold back" into an isolated space.
